Q.Light Pain Care

Q.Light Pain Care is designed for the treatment of acute and chronic pain in medical practices, clinics, specialised treatment centres, nursing homes/services and for self-treatment at home.  It is not just another infra-red treatment device but combines the therapeutic effect of polarised visible red light with near infra-red, which provides warmth and dilates the blood vessels to increase the supply of oxygen to the tissues.

Clinical recognition of phototherapy is now widespread and scientific studies have shown significantly increased microcirculation of blood in the areas treated.  Biostimulation by light energises tissue cells directly, enabling them to function and reproduce more efficiently and light has a similar effect on blood cells.

After just a short treatment time this triggers a similar beneficial effect in the whole circulating blood stream (photomodulation), which carries the benefits of light therapy throughout the body within 90 minutes.  These changes can still be observed at declining levels for up to 24 hours after treatment.


Specific effects include improvement of rheologic transport and transport functions, optimised oxygen transport to cells, increased functional activity of monocytes, granulocytes and lymphocytes, induced lipid peroxidation in plasma and an increase of anti-inflammatory cytokines.

As a result natural healing is accelerated, the immune system is boosted and pain and inflammation are alleviated.

Cosmetic professionals have also used Q.Light Pain Care before application of semi-permanent make up, epilation and other cosmetic procedures to reduce pain and discomfort.

The treatment regime

Q.Light Pain Care is an ideal complement to a variety of pain management programmes and it can benefit the patient's general condition as well as pain symptoms.  The light beam is directed at a right angle to the area to be treated and typical treatment times at maximum treatment diameter 25cm (10 inches) are 15-25 min, though smaller areas can be treated more quickly.

Treatment should be given twice daily but it is safe to use Q.Light Pain Care more frequently and for severe cases sometimes three to four times per day may be beneficial.  This is more effective than treating for longer periods.

In cases of joint treatment treatment times can be extended without danger. No side effects or contra-indications have been reported and you cannot over-dose.  Excess treatment time is ineffective but not harmful.  Q.Light Pain Care does not replace professional healthcare but regular therapy at home between consultations produces highly beneficial results.

Important note on chronic pain

Pain is a complex area and is highly subjective. Perceived pain may arise from a wide variety of sources, both physical and psychological and in cases of chronic pain the two can frequently become interrelated. 

Whilst chronic pain is one of the indications given by the manufacturer for Q.Light Pain Care these problems are usually deep seated and no one treatment will work in all cases.  Whilst  effective for some people and some types of pain there can be no guarantee that it will help in any particular case.  Since the treatment is entirely natural and drug-free however, Q.Light Pain Care can usually be used as an extra therapy alongside existing treatments.

Q.Light Skin Care and Q.Light PRO

For those wanting a wider range of therapies, Q.Light Skin Care and Q.Light PRO are attractive alternatives.  They are flexible models which share a range of interchangeable filter modules, including Pain.  There are filters for medical, cosmetic and colour light treatments.
